PARKLAND, FL- The Parkland Recreational Soccer Program wrapped up another successful season with their annual "Great Picnic" event. Games, laughter, children, families, food and trophies filled Pine Trails Park as hundreds of local soccer players celebrated together. City Commissioners Bob Mayersohn, Ken Cutler, Stacy Kagan and Rich Walker handed out trophies to the soccer players. Nearly 1,000 area youth participate in Parkland Rec Soccer, making it one of our most popular local sports. The season begins in late October and runs through the final "Great Picnic" in late February. For children interested in furthering their soccer development, Parkland's competitive travel soccer teams will have tryouts in May for a season that begins in August and runs until May.
