Town Wide Yard Sale

For the second year in a row, the Madison Environmental Commission is encouraging residents to go green by hosting individual yard sales on one common date at one common time: Saturday, October 19th 9:00am to 1 pm.

“The Town-Wide Yard Sale is a great way to meet your neighbors and shop in an environmentally friendly way,” says Maureen Byrne, Borough Council liaison to the Environmental Commission. “Last year over 40 homes participated in the yard sale—people came from as far away as Pennsylvania to shop.”

Residents can advertise their yard sales along with the type of merchandise offered through a premium event listing at TapIntomadison.com. Listings are $10 each and will be published not only on TapInto Madison but on its sister sites for neighboring towns. A Google Map with all the yard sale locations will be published on tapintomadison.com several days before the event.

To advertise your yard sale visit www.tapintomadison.net CREATE AN ACCOUNT or SIGN IN then SUBMIT CONTENT, EVENT LISTING, NON PROFIT $10 and type in MADISON for the location.

“The Town-Wide Yard Sale, which is held every October, is a sister event to the Town Swap, which is held in the spring,” says Claire Whitcomb, Environmental Commission Chair. “We aim to make both events zero waste and hope that hope residents will arrange for nonprofits to pick up leftovers after their yard sales.

Nonprofits that offer home pickups include the Vietnam Veterans of America, www.vva.org, who will pick up clothing, shoes, household items, toys, books, bikes, small appliances, tools, bedding, draperies, curtains, electronics, jewelry and cosmetics. Market Street Mission, www.marketstreet.org, has a thrift store and pick up service that accepts furniture, bedding, clothes, household items, cars and trucks. Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, www.morrisrestore.org/donate. ReStore accepts antiques, furniture, flooring, brand new plumbing, painting supplies, doors and more.

The Beginning of the End

Today Democrats in Congress will put their political witch trial before the public, for the Americans to see. Their hope is that the masses of deplorables and bible clinging American people will be swayed by their political slight of hand. This is a predetermined trial. It’s outcome happened within a nano second of President Trump’s election. American’s will see for themselves ...

Does Class Size Matter?, by Mrs. Amy Goldberg-Tseng

Have you ever been to a birthday party with more than fifteen kids? If so, you’re probably familiar with the laughter, and screaming, and children at play, as parents keep a watchful eye on their child in a large space. Now imagine an enclosed classroom where the number is closer to twenty-five children with generally one ...

Whoever You Vote For....Just Vote!

The numbers get more and more depressing with each passing year.  Everyone says this is going to be a low turn out election.

I'd like to remind everyone about how many brave men and women gave their lives for our liberties, the greatest of these being the ability to choose our representatives in government.

No matter who you plan to vote for, please make the time ...

All Three Incumbents Need to Be Re-elected

To the Editor,

This is a critical time in Parsippany whereby we need all three (3) Incumbents to be re-elected to fight off this township immediately becoming a Sanctuary City.

Without all three members of the Council — Michael DePierro, Paul Carifi, Jr., and Loretta Gragnani - re-elected — Parsippany will  experience many undesired consequences such as skyrocketing ...

The New Jersey Origins of Green Bean Casserole

November 16, 2019

Ever wonder where the Thanksgiving classic Green Bean Casserole came from? Turns out it was created in the Garden State.
