PARSIPPANY, NJ - Mayor Michael Soriano began his State of the Township address on Friday, February 7, 2020 by wishing his dad a happy birthday!  After that, his message was clear to residents:  Parsippany has major fiscal issues.

Some of the prouder moments of the Mayor's address included his stance against human trafficking in Parsippany (and beyond), his shared services with Hanover Twp on animal control, his bipartisan passing of the plastic bag ordinance and the instatement of historical signs throughout the town.

When discussing the fiscal crises of Parsippany, he squarely placed the blame on the prior administration.  Specifically, he cited the following two causes:

1. The pushing through of a zero percent tax increase during Mayoral election years with no associated long term planning 

2. The borrowing from water and sewer funds to balance the budget. 

His goal for the future year is to return Parsippany to fiscal sanity.  He spoke about the new decade inspiring hope, fresh ideas and the adaption of new technology.
