PARSIPPANY – The 16th-seeded Parsippany High School field hockey team advanced in the Morris County Tournament after defeating 17th-seeded Butler, 2-1, on Sept. 27.

The win was the first of the season for the Redhawks. Parsippany had a 24-4 advantage in shots on goal. 

For Parsippany, Lindsey Depetris and Kayla Mlynarski scored goals. Depetris also had an assist.

Butler’s goal came from Lauren Spencer on an assist from Jenna Snyder. 

Parsippany, despite its 1-10 record, has been very competitive this season. Six of those losses have been within a goal. 

The Redhawks take on top-seeded West Morris Central in the second round of the tournament on Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. The two teams met on Sept. 16, with West Morris prevailing 6-1.
