PARSIPPANY – The Parsippany High School football team is officially on a winning streak.
Following a 42-6 win at Hopatcong last week, the Redhawks edged Passaic Valley, 31-28, at home Friday night.
Parsippany held off a second-half surge from Passaic Valley, which dropped its first game of the season after wins over High Point and Lakeland to start the season.
Parsippany quarterback James Riedinger went 6-for-10 for 122 yards and two touchdowns while running in another two TDs. He also added eight tackles on defense.
“The assistant coach and players did an excellent job preparing for Passaic Valley this week,” said Parsippany head coach Jason Hurta. “It got close at the end but the players bent but didn’t break.”
The Redhawks are off to a 2-1 start for the second straight season. They will look to keep the momentum going against Wallkill Valley on the road on Sept. 28. Wallkill Valley is 3-0 with wins over North Warren, Kittatinny and Kinnelon.
