PARSIPPANY – All it takes is getting hot at the right time.
And so was true for the Parsippany Hills High School girls soccer team.
The Vikings ended the season on a seven-match winning streak and defeated Wall, 1-0, in double overtime to win the NJSIAA Group 2 championship on Nov. 16 at Kean University.
Nerina SanMartin scored the golden goal on an assist from Sophia Vicenzino in the second OT. Par Hills goalie Alex Jurow made 10 saves.
The Group 2 title was the second in four years for the program.
Parsippany Hills – as the fourth seed – won the North 2, Group 2 sectional title following a 2-1 result over second-seeded Hanover Park on Nov. 7.
The Vikings went on to win 1-0 matches over Ramsey and Wall to take the state title.
Parsippany Hills finished the season with a 16-6-4 record. It had 11 shutouts on the year.
