Adopt A Pet

Georgie was born in April of 2017. He is a very mellow cat who will patiently listen to all of your troubles at the end of the day. He enjoys playing with his siblings, but he is equally content either alone or with his foster mom!  Georgie is a little shy at first, but after you pet him a few times, he can’t help falling in love with you. His favorite things to do are playing, getting pet, eating and of course, sleeping. Georgie is vaccinated, altered, FeLV/FIV tested negative and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Georgie, complete the pre-adoption application at or call Maria at S.T.A.R.T. at 973-785-1245.

Juniper, a beautiful buff tabby, was born in July of 2013. She is a sweet and friendly girl who was adopted out as a baby and has now lost her home. Apparently, the term “forever” just does not mean the same thing to everyone. It is heartbreaking to us when one of our very own gets turned away from the family that we selected for her. Juni has been done a disservice that we now have an opportunity to make right. She is such a sweetheart who gets along with cats and has had interaction with dogs as well. She will do great in any family environment. Juniper is vaccinated, altered, FeLV/FIV tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting Juniper, complete the pre-adoption application at or call Kym at S.T.A.R.T. at 973-785-1245.

SoHo came in with her friend Red, and has just been sweet as a bug from day one! She just seems to love everyone she meets and wants nothing more than to play with her toys and have fun.

Beautiful Svetlana came to us with her daughter, and sadly we found out Svetlana is FIV+. We say sadly only because people don't really understand this condition and are therefore afraid. With proper care, FIV+ cats can live just as long and just as normal lives as other cats, with all the love and gratitude that comes with it.

The Alan Purcell Wayne Animal Shelter is located at 201 Pompton Plains Crossroad, Wayne. Adoption hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 4 p.m., or by appointment. Call 973-694 -0767 or visit All animals are up to date with shots, altered, and cats are tested FIV and leukemia.
