Beloved MKA Track Coach Tom Fleming Dies While Coaching

MONTCLAIR, NJ - Tom Fleming, varsity track coach and teacher at Montclair Kimberley Academy, died suddenly on Wednesday night. 

Eyewitnesses have reported that 65-year-old Fleming passed away during a meet at the track in Verona.  Many people whose lives have been touched by Fleming have expressed their disbelief and condolences.  

In 1973 and 1975, Fleming won the New York City Marathons. He also earned second place twice in the Boston Marathon, and first place in the Jersey Shore Marathon three times as well as winning other races in Cleveland, D.C., Toronto and Los Angeles, according to his bio.

A 1969 graduate of Bloomfield high school, where he began his running career, Fleming received numerous recognitions for his performance on the track. 

 While in college at William Paterson university, Fleming became a four-time NCAA College Division All-American, where he graduated in 1973.  Fleming joined the coaching staff at Montclair Kimberley Academy in the 1990s, working there as both track coach and fourth grade teacher. 

Montclair Kimberley Academy have not yet issued a statement. We are also awaiting official word from the Verona Police Department.

Street Hockey Program Open To Children from Passaic Valley area, Cedar Grove

WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The WP Boys & Girls Club is planning registration dates for its summer street hockey program. The program is offered to all residents of Woodland Park, Cedar Grove, Totowa and Little Falls, who are currently in kindergarten to eight grade.
