Boys Ice Hockey: Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Falls to Clifton 5-1

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Hornets lost 5-1 to Clifton in the semi-final round of the Passaic County Tournament on Saturday at Floyd Hall.  

The Hornets entered the tournament seeded second and earned a first round bye. Third seed Clifton defeated West Milford on Friday to advance to the semifinals.

It was a scoreless first period, but Clifton came out strong in second scoring twice. The Hornets answered when Alex LoPresti found the back of the net with help from Sam Giufrrida  and Dan Lapinski.

James Fusaro scored two goals in the third for Clifton and and Chris Poplawski made it a 5-1 game when the final buzzer sounded.

The Hornets host Brick Memorial at Floyd on Saturday at 8:50 p.m.
