Boys Ice Hockey: Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Wins the Big North Bronze Cup

WAYNE, NJ - Alex LoPresti had a hat trick and recorded his 100th career point to lead top-seeded Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove to a 5-2 victory over second-seeded Ramapo in the final round of the Big North Bronze Cup at the Ice Vault on Friday night.  

PV/CG came out strong with Joe Kubu and LoPresti finding the back of the net in the first period and putting the Hornets on the board. Ramapo's Michael Lagana scored early in the second period, but PV/CG answered with LoPresti's second goal of the night, assisted by Kubu and Nick LoPresti and then Nick LoPresti scored a short-handed goal with 4:06 left in the period. Jake Trabattoni scored for Ramapo less than a minute later to make it a 4-2 game.  

LoPresti completed his hat trick at the start of the third and the Hornets never looked back. Nicolas DiNardo had 16 saves for the Hornets. Luke Mutterer had 21 saves for Ramapo.

Joe Kubu added one goal and one assist. Michael Lagana and Jake Trabattoni scored one goal a piece for Ramapo.

The first period proved to be the difference for Passaic Valley, outscoring Ramapo 2-0. It would score three more goals in the next two periods to pull away and secure the victory.
