Bush Brothers Baked Beans Recalled Due to Can Seam Issue

MORRISTOWN, NJ- Bush Brothers & Company has announced a voluntary recall of certain 28 ounce cans of Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans, Country Style Baked Beans and Original Baked Beans due to defective side seams.

The defects in the side seams may affect the integrity of the can and may cause cans to leak or allow for harmful bacteria to grow inside the product, said the company. The recall was initiated after an investigation revealed that the problem resulted from a temporary quality issue from the can's supplier. The problem has since been corrected.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide in retail stores but only affect the flavors and lot codes listed below.

"As a fourth generation family owned business, we are guided by our values of integrity, caring, responsibility, and trust and we apologize for any inconvenience or concern this situation may cause", wrote Drew Everett, fourth generation family member and chairman of the board, on the company's website. "It’s important to note that, to date, no illnesses or other adverse consequences have been reported in connection with this voluntary recall; however, we urge you to dispose of these affected products immediately even if the beans do not look or smell spoiled. We are working with our retailers to ensure timely removal of affected product from their warehouses and shelves".
