BARNEGAT, NJ - Barnegat Police announced their location of two dogs who mauled and killed a female resident's pet in Pinewood Estates. Barnegat resident Angela Greco, 60 was arrested and charged with multiple counts related to the incident, which occurred on July 7th.
The arrest and apprehension follows a three day investigation. Barnegat police conducted extensive searches, and followed up on multiple leads and tips. As of 2:30 pm today, Animal Control Officers from the Popcorn Zoo took custody of the two dogs. In accordance with requirements of the Ocean County Health Department, both animals will be quarantined for ten days.
Yesterday, Barnegat Patrolman Brett Taylor actually visited with Greco in conjunction with the investigation. She provided police with false information. Subsequently, she surrendered the animals to the Popcorn Zoo.
Police cited Greco with criminal charges under state law, including the obstruction of the administration law and tampering with, or fabricating physical evidence.
Greco received a local ordinance citation for failure to abide with leash requirements. Additional charges are pending investigation by the local Humane Law Enforcement Officer.
