WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The West Paterson Fire Department recently conducted a driver training drill for new drivers learning to operate emergency vehicles.
The two-day exercise was set up to teach driving skills with obstacle courses using road cones and help the drivers understand mechanical operations of the vehicles. It was held in the Kearfott parking lot on McBride Avenue.
The West Paterson Fire Department brought all of its training into action at a multiple alarm fire in the City of Paterson on North 7th Street in the early morning hours of July 5 where crews responded for mutual aid.
"We want to get the word out to the residents about our training so they understand the time and effort involved in what we do," said West Paterson Fire Department Chief Paul Salomone. "We are also posting information on our fire department Facebook page and eventually on our department website, which is under reconstruction."
