Ice Hockey: Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Battles Paramus

HACKENSACK, NJ - Alex LoPresti scored two goals to help lead the Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Hornets ice hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the Paramus Spartans at the Ice House on Saturday, Jan. 20.

The Hornets got themselves on the board early with a goal from Alex LoPresti with 14:21 left in the first period. The Spartans answered less than a minute later with a goal by Zachary Baker. Nick LoPresti took back the lead for PV/CG with a goal at the 3:42 mark, assisted by Dan Lapinski and Kyle McCarthy.  

The Spartans capitalized on a power play early in the second period with a goal from Eric Hegyi to tie the game at 2-2. The Hornets returned the favor with a power play goal of their own, by Alex LoPresit with help from Nick LoPresti with 8:19 left in regulation play -- sealing the deal for PV/CG.

Nicolas DiNardo had 29 saves for the Hornets, while Jake Moran had 23 saves for the Spartans.

The win improves PV/CG to 7-7-2 for the season. They host Fair Lawn on Friday, Jan. 26 at 8:45 p.m. at Floyd Hall.
