Ice Hockey: Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Tops Tenafly 7-5

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Alex LoPresti scored four goals to lead the Passaic Valley/Cedar Grove Hornets to a 7-5 victory over the Tenafly Tigers at Floyd Hall Arena on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Nick LoPresti put the Hornets on the board first on an assist from Shane McGuire about mid-way through the first period.  Alex LoPresti found the back of the net less than a minute later with help from Vincent DiNardo, and Matt Nelson gave PV/CG a  3-0 lead with just over five minutes left in the first period with assistance from Ryan Humes.  

The Tigers answered with goals from Nic L'Heureux and Socrates Rattis, closing the period down just one goal.  L'Herueux made it a tie game when he found the back of the net early in the second period.  However Dan Lapinski and Alex LoPresti both scored for the Hornets to return PV/CG to the lead.

Once again L'Heureux and Rattis scored for the Tigers early in the third period to make it a tie game.  With just three minutes left in regulation time, Alex LoPresti scored for the Hornets and then sealed the deal with another goal just 30 seconds before the buzzer.  

The win improves the Hornets to 2-1-1 for the season.  They host Westfield Monday at 8:30 p.m. at Floyd Hall Arena.
