BLOOMFIELD, NJ -  Bloomfield resident Jenn Stilwell's cranberry jelly recipe is now the worst kept secret in the township.

Stilwell's jelly has been the subject of a great deal of chatter in town over the past few days. Then on Sunday afternoon. local business leader Izabela Van Tassel declared it "the best." Within hours, under cover of darkness, in a scene right out of 'All the President's Men,' a container of Stilwell's cranberry jelly was passed on to TAPinto Bloomfield. Without even having to file an OPRA request, TAPinto Bloomfield obtained the recipe for the citizenry.

Take 4 cinnamon sticks, 1.5 cups of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1/2  a tsp. ground ginger, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1 1/2 tsp. ground clove and put them in a stock pot.

Boil until the sugar melts and then boil on low for about 5 mins.

Add 4 bags of fresh cranberries and 2 large peeled green apples (cored and diced) .

Cook the cranberries until they start to burst (about 10-15 mins on a low boil).

Allow the mixture to cool slighlty (for safety)

Using a hand blender, blend the mixture until you have your desired consistency.

Add 3/4 cup of spiced rum and boil on low for 5 mins.

Editor's note: this cranberry jelly is great topping on vanilla ice cream or gelato.
