Passaic County offers free home radon test kits

The Passaic County Department of Health is offering free radon test kits as part of a statewide effort to promote safety as well as awareness about the deadly radioactive gas. Radon, an odorless, invisible gas produced by decaying uranium or thorium, is the nation's second leading cause of lung cancer, according to the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Due to its prevalence throughout the state, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) recommends all homes get tested for radon. For more information on radon or to reserve one of the free test kits, contact Allessio at 973-225-3651.
