LITTLE FALLS, NJ - On Sunday, Oct. 10, Passaic County will be sponsoring a compost bin and rain barrel program open to all, regardless of county or state residency, at the Little Falls Municipal Complex, 225 Main St. from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. rain or shine.

Composting is nature’s way of recycling by turning vegetative kitchen scraps, coffee grinds, tea bags, grass clippings, brown leaves and dead garden plants into rich organic compost. This compost can be used in vegetable and/or flower gardens, while keeping the unwanted material out of landfills. Rain barrels enable the collection of water for reuse around the garden.           

Tips on how to compost, as well as on how to utilize a rain barrel effectively to conserve water will be provided at the event. Residents may learn more about the compost bins, rain barrels, or other accessories by visiting Attendees are required to wear masks at all times and remain six feet socially distanced. This program is drive-up only.
