Passaic County To Host Second Annual Paws in The Park Event

The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Passaic County Sheriff's Department - Sheriff Richard Berdnik, and Friends of Passaic County Parks will host the second annual Paws in the Park event on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Goffle Brook Park, in Hawthorne.

The event will include cat and dog adoptions, K-9 demonstrations, microchipping, face painting, pet contests, food trucks, prizes and more.

Proceeds benefit the Passaic County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit obtain bullet-proof K-9 vests for all 16 dogs in the  Sheriff's Department K-9 unit.

The schedule of events includes:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 noon - Discounted microchipping
  • 11 a.m. - K-9 demo
  • 12 p.m. - Blessing of the animals
  • 12:30 p.m. - Pet costume contest
  • 1 p.m. - K-9 demo
  • 2 p.m. - Unique/ugly dog contest
  • 2:30 p.m. - Tail wagging contest
