Passaic County offers extensive weatherization and energy assistance programs designed to help seniors and other low income families make energy bills more affordable.

The county’s Home Energy Division administers the Low Income Energy Assistance Program. LIHEAP is designed to help families make energy bills more affordable. Eligible households that are having difficulty paying their electric, natural gas, oil and other deliverable fuel bills are provided financial assistance to offset their heating costs.

The weatherization division enables families to permanently reduce their energy bills by making their homes more energy efficient. Homes receive a thorough evaluation of the heating system, attic/wall insulation, windows, doors as well as the health and safety testing of all combustion appliances at no cost to the resident.

For more information call the Weatherization/Home Energy Department at 973-569-4032.
