PATERSON, NJ - Paterson Police announced Thursday that Raheem Hunt was identified, arrested, and charged in connection to the shooting death of Juan Martinez, a 39 year-old Paterson resident.
On Monday at approximately 4:45 p.m., the Paterson Police responded to a 911 call of a shooting at Madison and Essex Street. Upon arrival officer Tamariz Rodriguez proceeded to render aid to the shooting victim who was later identified as Martinez.
Paterson Fire Department EMS and St. Joseph’s Hospital ALS responded to the scene and transported the Martinez to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he died of his injuries.
As a result of the crime scene investigation, detectives were able to identify Kaheem Hunt, 30, a Paterson resident and Paterson firefighter, as one of the perpetrators to the murder of Juan Martinez. Detectives arrested and charged Hunt with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon
Police Director Jerry Speziale said in a statement, "The detective bureau is at an 87% solvability rate which is unheard of nationally and indicative of their expertise and tireless effort's."
