WOODLAND PARK, NJ - Local fifth grader Jayden Perez, president of the non-profit charity From the Bottom of My Heart, has completed his mission on donating backpacks full of school supplies to less fortunate in the community and surrounding area. A number of volunteers helped Jayden fill the backpacks on Aug. 18 at the WP Boys & Girls Club.

The event was sponsored in part by Gelati by Mike (formerly Geloti of Montclair, Caldwell and Randolph), Uncle Phil's Place (formerly Hillery Lunch), and the Guerriero Family, who provided refreshments for the volunteers.

A total of 419 backpacks, 150 of which were donated by Gelati by Mike, and printed at cost by Juzdan Gear, were filled and distributed to the three local schools, Passaic Valley High School and Oasis and Eva’s Village, both in Paterson. Jayden had a collection box at the Alfred Baumann Library all summer to garner supplies.

Should your family be in need of a backpack and supplies this school season, reach out to Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark via Facebook or phone/text at 973-420-9962.
