SPHS Lacrosse: South Plainfield Outlasts Passaic Valley in OT 11-10

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Someone had to win? South Plainfield’s and Passaic Valley’s girls lacrosse teams locked horns today trading shots, making saves and scoring goals. In the end it would take an overtime goal by Lynda Farinella to break the deadlock and send the South Plainfield Lady Tigers down the Parkway with an 11-10 victory.

The two teams were deadlocked at both the half and at the conclusion of the game. South Plainfield fired 33 shots on goal while Passaic Valley had 30 shots on goal. South Plainfield’s Ashley Veliz and Haley Olsen each recorded a hat trick and Catherine Bennett had a three goal hat trick of her own for Passaic Valley. The victory was South Plainfield’s second in a row and improved their record to 5-11 on the season while Passaic Valley falls to 3-15.
