Totowa Man Arrested For Fatal Overnight Stabbing Outside QuickChek

TOTOWA, NJ - One man is dead following a stabbing at the QuickChek, 79 Union Boulevard in Totowa, early on May 20.

Damien Edwards, 33, of Totowa, was arrested in relation to the homicide, according to Camelia Valdes, Passaic County prosecutor, and Robert Coyle, Totowa Police chief.

Edwards has been charged with first degree murder; possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third degree; and unlawful possession of a weapon, fourth degree.

An on duty Totowa Police officer was at the QuickChek and observed Edwards attack the victim, Justin Parker, 35, of Paterson, outside of the store, at about 3:30 a.m. The officer called in the assault in progress and attempted to take Edwards into custody. Edwards fled the scene but was apprehended a short distance away by assisting officers. Parker suffered apparent stab wounds to the torso, and was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4 a.m.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

WPSA Registering for Fall Soccer Teams for Boys and Girls

The West Paterson Soccer Association is now registering for its fall 2018-spring 2019 soccer season. Register by June 17 at www.wpsoccer.org. WPSA teams are open to boys and girls from all area towns. The program is a feeder program to Passaic Valley Regional High School.
