Woodland Park Day To Feature Apple Pie Baking Contest

WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The annual Woodland Park Day will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 3 p.m. to dusk on Memorial field. Admission is free.

There will be fun for all with a petting and feeding zoo, pony rides, games, slides, a bounce house, train rides, a DJ dance contest, Disney characters, balloon animals, face painting, an apple pie baking contest and more. The event will also featuring food from various local businesses and food vendors.

Fireworks will be held at dusk. Bring a blanket, chairs and bug spray and enjoy the show.

Calling all Woodland Park bakers! A new feature this year will be an apple pie baking contest. Show off your talents to the community by signing up.

The participation entry form and full rules can be obtained from the recreation office in Borough Hall Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For questions or for an electronic copy of the entry form/rules, email recreation@wpnj.us or call 973-345-8100, ext. 213. Participation form must be dropped off to the recreation office by Wednesday, Sept. 13 to be eligible.

Pies should be dropped off at 3 p.m. on Sept. 16, and will be judged at 5 p.m. Pies will be scored on a scale of 1 to 10 in four categories: appearance, crust, filling and flavor. The pie with the most overall points will be declared Blue Ribbon First Place Winner. Top three scoring pies will be awarded prize.
