Woodland Park Making Plans for Annual Memorial Day Observance, Parade Participants Sought


WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The Borough of Woodland Park is planning its annual Memorial Day Parade, to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives to preserve our freedom. The parade will he held on Monday, May 29 along McBride Avenue, starting at 11 a.m.

If you have an antique/classic vehicle that you would like to display in the parade, contact the recreation department at or 973-345-8100, ext. 213 to register to participate. 

If you are a veteran and would like to walk or ride in the parade or a resident group/organization or a local business that would like to be involved in the event contact or 973-345-8100, ext. 213.

Prior to the parade two ceremonies will be held to demonstrate the borough’s gratitude to those who paid dearly to preserve our way of life:

  • 9:30 a.m. at the firemen’s memorial ceremony at McBride Avenue and Memorial Drive, and
  • 10 a.m. and the war memorial ceremony at McBride Avenue and Brophy Lane

The parade will commence at Glover Avenue and McBride Avenue at 11 a.m. and proceed along McBride Avenue and down Memorial Drive where the viewing stand will be located this year, at the Boys & Girls Club.

Following the parade a monument dedication remembering those who lost their lives from West Paterson in service to the United States will be held at Memorial School at 12 noon. There, 14 newly planted trees, each to remember one of the 14 lost from the borough, and a memorial will officially be rededicated.

In addition, a street fair will be held along McBride Avenue from Memorial Drive to Lackawanna Avenue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
