WOODLAND PARK, NJ - Mayor Keith Kazmark and the Borough Council promoted Woodland Park Police Department Sergeant Erik Luker to Lieutenant before a packed house in Council Chambers on Feb. 6.
"Erik is the type of guy who, when he puts his mind to something, he gets it done," Kazmark said. "Not only has he done that with the Department as a training officer, he has done so at the American Legion Post 238" which he worked to revitalize and renovate. Luker served as Commander for the Post for several years.
Luker graduated from DePaul Catholic High School in 1999 and served in the United States Marines from 1999 to 2003. He was a Sergeant in Afghanistan in 2001 and 2002, and in Iraq in 2003. Luker worked in the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department from 2003 to 2005 before joining the Woodland Park Police Department. He has also been teaching at the Passaic County Police Academy since 2008. Luker also graduated recently from Montclair State University with a degree in Justice Studies.
