Wrong Way Driver Kills Fairfield Man in Crash on Route 80 in Woodland Park


WOODLAND PARK, NJ -  A Fairfield man died early this morning following a head-on crash on Rt. 80 in Woodland Park,

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that at approximately 4:38 a.m., on Sunday June 25, State Police responded to Route 80 east near in the area Exit 56A in Woodland Park, in response to a head-on motor vehicle crash in which one of the drivers was going the wrong way on the interstate.  

The driver of a Honda CRV, later identified as Fairfield resident Rocco Donatiello, 29, died as a result to injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.

The investigation, being conducted by the New Jersey State Police, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office remains active and ongoing.
