19-Century Baseball Reopening Event for Exhibitions Scheduled for September 26th in Hawthorne, NJ

HAWTHORNE, NJ – Passaic County’s Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce the Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House is reopening on September 26, 2020, with two new exhibitions – “Shades of Greatness” and “Hinchliffe Stadium & Its Legacy.” The reopening will be paired with a 19th-century baseball game outside next to the arts center.

Shades of Greatness: The Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House reopens to the public with a traveling exhibit on loan from The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Shades of Greatness is the first-ever collaborative professional art exhibit inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball. The critically acclaimed exhibition features 35 original works of art.

 

Hinchliffe Stadium & Its Legacy: In celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the establishment of the Negro Leagues, the Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House reopens to the public with a collection of memorabilia and artworks inspired by the historic Paterson arena.

 

The exhibitions will be on display from September 26th to December 5th. The galleries will be open Friday through Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Passaic County Arts Center, under the direction of the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, is dedicated to providing high quality and accessible arts events and educational programming through gallery exhibitions, workshops, arts classes, and public programs.
