FAIR LAWN, NJ - What were these furry kids thinking? Trying to break into Forrest Elementary School when they really should have read the sign better. Fortunately, the police saved the day by getting the furry children to their probable true destination: the forest.

All kidding aside, it was a tip from some real children playing near Forrest School on Hopper Avenue on September 5 that caused police and the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad to rescue rabbits trapped in basement window wells. While the wells are covered by protective grates, it didn't deter the furry creatures from slipping in.

All trapped rabbits, which included at least two babies, were successfully rescued, according to photographer Boyd A. Loving.

School for all other Fair Lawn kids began remotely, Sept. 8, with in-person learning scheduled to begin on October 19.
