WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The West Paterson and Totowa Fire Departments are extremely excited to present their first Holiday Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30. It is not to be missed, they say, as over 140 trucks, apparatuses, and floats are expected. The parade will start at 6 p.m.

Roads along the area of the parade route will be closed off between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Police advise that you arrive at your destination if it is within the parade route prior to 5 p.m. If you are attending the parade, allow enough time to find parking and to get your spots along the parade route.

Businesses along Union Boulevard in Totowa and McBride Avenue have been encouraged to stay open for spectators and decorate for the holidays.

The grandstand will be located across from the firehouse at 1070 McBride Avenue. At this location there will be a DJ and some food vendors. When the parade finishes, there will be awards and trophies for the vehicles participating. Attendees are able to watch the parade from anywhere along the route, however organizers note that extra parking is available at the 1225 McBride Ave. medical building and in the teacher's lot at Memorial School on Memorial Drive.

The parade is strictly a charity event. All vehicles entered in the parade have been asked to bring an unwrapped toy donation. All gifts collected from participants will be going to underprivileged children within Totowa and Woodland Park. Organizers are encouraging parade spectator to donate unwrapped gifts as well. It is not mandatory to donate to watch the parade. Santa’s helpers will be following him along the parade route collecting gifts on both sides of the road and placing them in Santa’s sleigh. If there are leftover gifts after distributing to the local community, the gifts will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The parade will be traveling through the two towns, delighting spectators with holiday lights and decorations. The parade will start at 6 p.m. at Union Boulevard and Crews Street and continue down Union Boulevard, making a right on Totowa Road. At the bottom of Totowa Road, the parade will cross the Hillary Street Bridge and make a right onto McBride Avenue. It will then make a right on Vetrone Drive, proceeding to Hromiak Terrace where it will make a right. It will make a right on Dowling Parkway passing Dowling Gardens and making a left back onto McBride Avenue.
