TOTOWA, NJ - Down came the rain on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019 and out came over 300 runners and spectators for Totowa's first ever 5K Turkey Trot.
Mayor John Coiro and his wife, Police Chief Robert Coyle and Senator Kristin Corrado were among the hundreds who ran the course through the Echo Glen neighborhood. The start line was paved by Totowa Fire Trucks and fun was apparent as Mayor Coiro pardoned a large gobbling turkey while children cheered. Recreation Director Mark Monteyne said the turnout was phenomenal as he presented trophies to the race winners. He thanked many local sponsors, particularly Elite Spine & Sports Library Foundation, conveyed thanks to the Board of Recreation members, the Totowa Fire Department, Totowa Police Department and Totowa Department of Public Works, and all volunteers that helped make the event possible.
