HAWTHORNE, NJ - The second vehicle to be knocked over in as many days in Hawthorne, a Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance was struck by a Jeep while responding to a call Friday night and fell onto its right side at the intersection of Goffle Road and Lafayette Avenue in front of the Dell Garden Center.
The vehicle which struck the ambulance was allegedly driven by another first responder coming to the aid of the initial call when the accident took place. No serious injuries were reported. The Fire Department and first responders came to the aid of Hawthorne's own.
The ambulance was towed and the intersection cleared, those involved transported to St. Joseph's for treatment.
Mayor Richard Goldberg was on the scene, observing the EMS operations. "I am grateful that no one was seriously injured. I visited everyone in the hospital ER to make sure that everyone was OK.
