CLIFTON, NJ - Quest Diagnostics Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Steve Rusckowski led a group of dignitaries in breaking ground for a new flagship laboratory Wednesday morning at the On3 campus.
Before the groundbreaking ceremony, Rusckowski presented the Boys and Girls Club with a check for $15,000.
The new lab, on the Clifton side of the redevelopment project, will be the company's largest. More than 1,100 employees are expected to work in the 250,000-square-foot facility when it opens in 2021. The area that will be served by the new facility is home to 40 million people and includes New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
"Our new flagship laboratory will enable us to empower better health through a comprehensive testing menu, faster turnaround, and additional capacity to serve more patients and clients," said Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Rusckowski. "Rooted in innovation, this new lab will also provide our employees with an inspiring workplace. This is a major commitment to our presence in New Jersey where we are headquartered, and it is good news for the healthcare providers and patients we serve."
The laboratory will be built on an approximately 12-acre site on the Clifton side of the ON3 campus. The area is near Matthew's restaurant. On3 is the 116 acre site that was Hoffmann-La Roche's main North American facility. The On3 site is in both the City Clifton and the Township of Nutley.
ON3 is aleready home to the Seton Hall-Hackensack Meridian Graduate School of Medicine, and Seton Hall's College of Nursing and School of Health and Medical Sciences. Ralph Lauren signed a lease to occupy an entire existing building on the Nutley side of the campus. The fashion leader is expected to fully occupy their space by the end of 2019.
