WOODLAND PARK, NJ - Officers from the Woodland Park Police Department and the Passaic County Sheriff's Department responded to the Woodland Park Range, 1267 McBride Ave., at approximately 5 p.m. today after a patron suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A 40-year-old man from Stanford, Conn., who traveled to the range with his girlfriend, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face, according to Woodland Park Police Capt. John Uzzalino. No other persons were inured and the range was closed while the investigation was ongoing. 

At this time, detectives are investigating whether the incident was accidental or if it was purposely done.

The victim was alive when first responders arrived to the scene. He was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson. 

Capt. Uzzalino said police would release the victim's name once his family is notified and that more information would be released when the investigation is complete.
