WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The West Paterson Fire Department’s 1997 Rescue Truck answered its final fire alarm on March 25. It has been taken out of service as the Department awaits the arrival on April 15 of its new 2019 Pierce Enforcer Rescue Truck.
The Department housed the 1997 truck at Fire Co.1, located at 15 West 35th St., for 22 years. Over those years, the apparatus has operated on numerous motor vehicle accidents, instrumental in life saving efforts on a Route 80 accident, operated in multiple flood events and has responded to thousands of alarms.
In 1997, the apparatus was unique as it was designed as a mobile command post which then, most towns didn't have.
The 1997 Rescue goes by the Slogan "Any Job, Anytime," and up until March 25 has never ceased to get the job done.
The Department is sad to see this piece of history leave but they cannot wait for the new truck to arrive.
The new Rescue 1 will replace the old Rescue at Co. 1 and continue where it left off, proudly serving the residents of Woodland Park.
