ELIZABETH, NJ — One person is dead, two were critically injured and 10 more people were transported to hospitals this morning after a house exploded at 1035 Magnolia Ave., according to Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados. A dog with burns was rescued, as well, he said.
Triage units have been set up at the scene, where the explosion occurred just after 8 a.m. today. The 2.5-story house is collapsed and an apartment building and house adjacent to it were damaged.
It is unknown how many remain trapped inside. Public schools in Elizabeth are closed today.

Half a dozen ambulances and firefighters from Elizabeth, Union, Springfield and Scotch Plains remained at the scene.
“I want to offer my deepest condolences to all the families affected,” said Granados, who was on the scene. “Let’s all pray for the recover for those who were transported to the hospital.”
