14-Year-old Shot in 4th Ward on Wednesday


PATERSON, NJ – A 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded in the left shoulder early Wednesday morning while walking down Governor Street, according to police.

The victim told police he heard several gunshots being fired, and began running from the area. While running, he was hit by one of the bullets and collapsed near 196 Governor, which is between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Carroll Street.

Detectives responding to the scene at about 3:15 am found him on the porch of a house, policed said.

The victim told police he did not see anyone in the area at the time, but that he heard a vehicle fleeing the area. He could not provide a vehicle description nor any further information, according to the Paterson Cease Fire unit.

Authorities are asking that anyone with information on the case call the Paterson Police Cease-Fire Unit at 973-321-1342 or the TIPS hotline at 973-523-TIPS.
