14-Year-old Wounded in 4th Ward Sunday Evening


PATERSON, NJ - A 14-year-old Paterson boy was wounded at 5:45 pm Sunday when he was shot while walking out of a bodega on Godwin Avenue near the corner with Auburn Street, police said.

Authorities are investigating whether the shooting was connected to the double homicide that happened two blocks away early Saturday morning, said Sgt. Patrick Murray, head of the Paterson Police Department's Cease Fire unit.

In Sunday's incident, the boy was leaving the bodega when several shots were fired and he was wounded once, Murray said, Investigators have not yet determined whether the boy was the intended target of the gunman, or whether there one or more shooters.

The youth is being treated for his wound, which authorities said was not life-threatening, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center.

Meanwhile, authorities have not made any arrests in the Saturday shooting that left two men dead and two others wounded.
