PATERSON, NJ - Three Paterson teens were arrested in Hawthorne Sunday night after they snatched a chain from a victim in Paterson.
The victim of the robbery was a Lincoln Park resident who was visiting a friend in Paterson when the three suspects snatched the chain from around his neck at around 9 p.m. after coming up from behind him on Second Avenie near E. 19th Street and then drove off. The victim, a 27-year-old white male, then got in his friend's vehicle and they chased the three suspects out of the city and into Hawthorne.
According to Paterson Sgt. Dean Barone, after the chase, Hawthorne police arrested Shaquille Brewington, 19, of Christina Place in Paterson; Vanif Gossett, 18, of North 5th Street in Paterson; and Michael Lucky, 18, of Pearl Street in Paterson. They were all charged with robbery.
Since there have been a series of similar chain-snatching incidents in that neighborhood of Paterson over the last several weeks, police are hopeful these arrests will bring the matter to a conclusion soon.
"Hopefully, this will lead to more arrests," Barone said. "They don't stop until they're caught."
