The Assembly race pits Democrats Benjie Wimberly, a city councilman, and Shavonda Sumter, who managed Jeffrey Jones’ successful mayoral campaign, against Republicans William Connolly, a life-time Patersonian, and North Haledon Councilwoman Donna Puglisi.

In a district dominated by Paterson’s Democratic voters, Pou, Wimberly and Sumter loom as formidable favorites.

NJSpotlight.com has published previews on all state legislative races, including the 35th district’s Senate contest and its Assembly election.

The candidates also have divergent opinions on what should be done to solve the area’s chronic flooding problems, according to a story on northjersey.com.
