PATERSON, NJ – Volunteers distributed 500 backpacks full of school supplies to the children of the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic on August 27.
The items were collected by campaign sponsors Toyota Financial Services, ADP, Moe’s Southwest Grill, the PitCChIn Foundation, Haier America as well as individual donors as part of the organization’s “Stuff the Bus” initiative which took place during the month of August.
“We know how important it is to be prepared for school and our sponsors ensured that the children of our community will start the new year off with the tools and supplies they need,” said Peter Thornton, Executive Director. “Whether it is after school enrichment programs, learning to make healthy choices or participating in recreational athletics, The Boys & Girls Club is a safe, positive learning environment for the children of Passaic.”
The Boys & Girls Club operates two clubhouses and ten community satellite locations in public schools and community centers. The club serves over 1000 children 5-18 years old each day and provides academic, athletic and artistic programming for thousands of children each year.
