PATERSON, NJ - A midday operation by members of the Paterson Police Department’s Narcotics Division Monday yielded four arrests as well as the confiscation of 23 pounds of suspected marijuana and nearly $40,000 in cash.

According to Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale the investigation found that Jeffrey Lopez, 24, and Mirtha Mejia, 52, were selling the illegal drugs out of “fortified premises”, a house on Marion Street. Lopez and Mejia, are mother and son.

While Lopez and Mejia face several charges related to the alleged possession of, and intent to distribute, the drugs, police also arrested two suspected drug buyers, Manuel Aristy, 26, and Yorquis Fernandez, 22.
