PATERSON, NJ - A city woman whose leg was amputated after an accident involving an NJ Transit bus in 2008 may receive a $7.7 million settlement from the state mass transit agency, according to a story on northjersey.com.

Mercedes Perez was hit by the bus when she was crossing Market Street near Cianci Street in October 2008, the story saidHer injuries included facial fractures, above-the-knee amputation of her left leg and partial right-foot amputation, the story said.
 

Her case was scheduled to go to trial in Superior Court in Paterson on Tuesday  when the settlement was reached, the story said.
