PATERSON, NJ - A 23-year-old Paterson man faces up to 20 years in prison following his Friday arrest in connection with a shooting that took place on July 18.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora, Alexander Nieves, was identified and arrested at approximately 11:38 p.m. in the area of East 22nd Street after an investigation found that he was allegedly responsible for the shooting that left a 25-year-old Paterson man with two non-threatening gunshot wounds. 

While the shooting took place in the area of East 24th Street and 14th Avenue, the victim was found in the area of 21st Street and Madison Avenue and immediately transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
