PATERSON, NJ- A 17-year old Paterson male has been arrested and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a food delivery man in the early hours of Thursday.

According to a statement by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, the juvenile faces several charges including murder, robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

As previously reported, the victim, Rui Zhou, 29, was making his last food delivery of the night when he was approached by the juvenile who took out a handgun and demanded Zhou’s money. Following a struggle Zhou attempted to drive away at which point the assailant allegedly fired the gun striking Zhou. Zhou was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 1:09 a.m.

Zhou’s wife, Xiaomei Liu, who was also in the vehicle, was unharmed in the incident.
