City Firefighters Win Valor Awards

 

PATERSON, NJ – Fifteen Paterson firefighters were among the honorees at the Passaic County 200 Club’s awards dinner on Tuesday night at The Brownstone.

Three groups of city firefighters won the Unit Citation for Valor for rescues performed during last summer’s historic floods.

Honored for the rescue of a man who was clinging to the Temple Street Bridge were Capt. Howard Anderson, Capt. Scott Parking, Capt. Frank Liscio and Firefighters Adrian Evans, Steven Higgins, Erik Diaz, Arthur Woods, Joseph Garret, Thomas Dyk, Christopher Tiritilli, and Robert Santore.

Honored for the rescue of a man caught on a razor-topped chain link fence engulfed in the river were Capt. Ernest Filippelli and Firefighters Scott Wilson, Jason Macones and Giocchino Panico.

Honored for the rescue of a man submerged while caught in a chain link fence were Capt. Parkin and Firefighters Dyk, Diaz, Higgins.

To my understanding, absentee ballots were designed to be used by those who are unable to make it to the polls on Election Day. Such as people in the armed services or those who are away on vacation. 

This year’s municipal election will be one for the history books.
