PATERSON, NJ – Did you notice the yellow crime scene tape wrapped around the front entrance to City Hall?
Don’t worry. The crime scene tape has nothing to do with the ongoing battles between the City Council and Mayor Jeffrey Jones. The reason that the front of City is closed off is far more mundane than that.
The front steps of the historic building are undergoing repairs, a $200,000, three-month project.
City Public Works Director Christopher Coke said the historic nature of the building requires the contractor to “take extra care” on the job.
While the entrance on Market Street is closed, folks will have to use the Ellison Street doors to enter and exit City Hall.
