Community Charter School of Paterson Expands Campus

PATERSON, NJ - The Community Charter School of Paterson, founded and supported by New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC), has expanded its campus in time for the 2014-2015 school year to welcome approximately 300 incoming fifth-, sixth- and seventh-graders. This Saturday, Aug. 23, families and community leaders are invited to tour the newly-renovated school for the first time at an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

Every classroom in the historic building located just across from Paterson’s City Hall will be equipped with the latest in SMART Board technology, and wireless internet access will be available throughout the building. The school will also be offering expanded learning time programs including: before- and after-school programs, Saturday programs, and a summer program, as well as a plethora of extra-curricular offerings including robotics, chess, dance, entrepreneurship, creative writing and many other engaging enrichment activities.

The expansion comes two years after the New Jersey Department of Education granted CCSP permission during its charter renewal survey to increase its offerings through the middle school grades. CCSP, which first received approval of its charter school application in 2007 and opened its doors in 2008 to children in grades K-3, expects to complete the final phase of its expansion to include instruction up to eighth grade level by the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Community Charter School of Paterson is an independent public school governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees consisting of parents, community members, and representatives of New Jersey Community Development Corporation.
