PATERSON, NJ - They were all in. Reps. Bill Pascrell and Steve Rothman combined to spend $4.7 million in their death match primary battle in the 9th congressional district.
Pascrell poured $2.4 million into teh race, including an $80,000 loan he made to his campaign two days before the election, according to a story on northjersey.com. Meanwhile, Rothman spent $2.3 million.
Pascrell, whose overwhelming victory stunned many political pundits, ended up getting a better return on his investment. He spent $81 for each of his 30,227 votes, while Rothman spent $123 each for each of his 19,118 votes, the story said.
